The Spitfire was designed as a fighter for the Royal Air Force. In the "Battle of Britain" he made history. Its characteristic elliptical-shaped wings were the result of perfect engineering, and have also made the plane an icon of design.
In the new Spitfire collection, IWC perfectly combines the formal and the functional. To commemorate the incomparable engineering work of the Spitfire, the entire collection of high-quality IWC manufacturing movements has been endowed. IWC presents for the first time an Aviator Chronograph with a chronograph movement of the 69000 caliber family and in a diameter of only 41 millimeters. Automatic movements of the 82000 caliber family are also used for the first time in the Aviator Watches. Finally, the new 32000 caliber family also celebrates its premiere in the Spitfire Automatic line.
The aesthetics of the Spitfire models are inspired by the purist instrument design of the Mark 11 historical navigation watch. The models with stainless steel cases, black dials, rhodized hands and green fabric straps collect chromatic details taken from a Spitfire's cockpit. The other watches combine a high quality bronze case with green dials and exquisite brown calfskin straps. With the passage of time, bronze develops a special patina that gives each watch a very personal character.
